Our Parent Company

GBI is a proud subsidiary of S.M. Jaleel & Company Limited — one of the Caribbean's most iconic and respected beverage manufacturers. Founded in Trinidad and Tobago, S.M. Jaleel has built a global reputation for producing high-quality, refreshing beverages loved by consumers around the world. Brands such as Oasis, Busta, Frutopia, Fruta, Altitude, Viva, and many more are distributed by GBI across Guyana.

Our Core Values

At GBI and across the S.M. Jaleel group, we are guided by eight core values — each beginning with the letter H — that shape how we work, lead, and serve.

H
HIM

We are a spirit-centred company, forever grateful and recognising the constant presence of God in all our undertakings.

H
Honesty

To be truthful and fair in all our personal and professional affairs.

H
High Trust

To transact our interpersonal relationships in a manner that strengthens mutual support and goodwill.

H
Human Potential

To provide opportunities for all team members to prosper, grow, and develop.

H
Have a Heart

To behave compassionately and practise patience, tolerance, understanding, and caring.

H
Holistic Environment

To provide a facilitating environment that balances spirituality, family, and professional life.

H
Humility

Recognising that being humble and open-minded will help us in life's journey to seek and apply knowledge.

H
High Quality

Ensuring that high quality transcends the way we live and work, the products we make, and the relationships we build.

What Guides Us

At SMJ we strive to achieve a harmonious integration of work and spiritual consciousness…

Our spiritual intent is anchored in the belief that God created each of us for some divine purpose. We encourage our employees to seek an understanding of their own spiritual purpose and thereby contribute more meaningfully in achieving the company's spiritual purpose.

Our Philosophy of Spirituality

Our philosophy of spirituality in the workplace allows our employees to perceive work as part of a spiritual journey and an opportunity to serve the wider society in ways that are mutually beneficial. We refer to it as the SMJ Way — which is about contributing, caring, compassion, and humility; demonstrating integrity and respect to fellow team members and customers alike.

3 Pillars of Spirit Centred Leadership

These three pillars constitute a new tool kit for organisations of the future, functioning along three unconventional and forward-thinking dimensions:

1

Moving Beyond Economies of Scope, Scale & Speed — To Economies of Soul

A radical departure from economies of scale, scope, and speed towards economies of soul. It asserts that the soul of the firm is nothing less than a collective soul of all the persons that comprise the organisation. Economies of soul are therefore limitless in scope, scale, and speed because the soul reinstates the integrity of wholeness and completeness to the organisation.

2

Moving Beyond Strategic Intent to Spiritual Intent

A departure from strategic intent and its achievement towards spiritual intent. Those who are able to believe in the futures which they themselves intend to invent are the ones who will use their possible worlds. These are the owners of the future — the persons who act in spaces in parenthesis that await fulfilment.

3

Moving Beyond Human Capital to Spiritual Capital

A movement away from human capital as manpower towards spiritual capital of the organisation. The third pillar is a pitting of character against competence. The anticipation here is that organisations of the future will give priority to the value systems of their employees rather than competence outlined in their diplomas. Character will supersede competences.
